There are over 40 Australasian models on the Spring/Summer 2014 show circuit, a number of them newcomers, with many other hopefuls lining up behind them for a shot at fashion’s main event.
Sixteen year-old Canadian Australian Clancy Downes from Sydney’s northern beaches is one of them.
Born in Guelph, Ontario, Downes emigrated to Australia with her family at the age of 10.
Downes wasn’t scouted – she sent some photographs into Chadwick Models earlier this year and was signed shortly thereafter.
At 5’11” she’s certainly got the height for top runway work, with a little bit of a Nicole Pollard/Tallulah Morton vibe.
With no professional gigs in the bag thus far, just a series of tests, she still has a long way to go – and needs to relax a little in front of the camera, which will come with more experience and time.
In the meantime, in addition to her schoolwork, she enjoys writing, photography, netball and playing the flute.
