Auckland's New Wave
Yesterday, as part of our series on the Auckland model agency showcard packs for the 2013 chapter of New Zealand Fashion Week, Frockwriter brought you Red 11’s women’s show pack.
And now for Red 11’s men’s showcards.
It’s much more compact than the Red 11 women’s pack (see the gallery, below) but nevertheless boasts a swag of new faces:
- Carl’Anton Giacomi, Auckland (via Toulouse, France)
- Charlie Mismash, 16, Auckland (via Utah)
- John McCall, 20, Takapuna, Auckland
- Jules Van Der Voorn, 23, Wellington
- Nicholas Reid, 22, Auckland
- William Bowman, 21, Auckland
Three who caught our eye were Giacomi – who was scouted and signed by Red 11 and bares a passing resemblance to the late Glee star Cory Monteith – plus Nick Reid and Jules van der Voorn (cover).
Like the French Giacomi, American Charlie Mismash was also scouted and signed by Red 11 in New Zealand.
Reid, a striking 6’2” 22 year-old Wellingtonian, was signed by Red 11 in March this year, having been originally scouted in his home town by Miss Dom, a local hair and makeup artist/stylist/creative director.
So far, he has shot an editorial for Black Magazine (this post’s cover image) and walked in a Karen Walker/Topman show at Auckland’s The Department Store earlier this year.
We have a hunch it won’t be long before he is snapped up offshore.
If Giacomi looks a little like Cory Monteith, Reid is in fact something of a dead ringer for a much bigger screen icon: French actor Alain Delon, who first rose to prominence with the emergence of the French New Wave cinema movement in the late 1960s.
Only a matter of time, surely, before someone casts him in a Borsalino-themed photoshoot.
He is already making movies – of sorts. Here’s a moody vid shot by Red 11 staffer Lula Cucchiara, also for Black Magazine:
